The African American community is uninformed about much of our cultural history. Most don't celebrate or even acknowledge Kwanzaa. Through the educational aspect of our program, we intend on informing African Americans of our roots, culture and virtues that we lived by so long ago. We will encourage them to uphold and practice these virtues because they bring about structure in the home and throughout life.
At Believe at Bellaire, we provide a sense of community that not may other programs offer. People that see each other at our annual events all have something in common; Pride in their community. Seeing event attendees who come out from other communities to support ours, gives us a sense of pride. With that pride comes connectivity and that connectivity is the glue of our community.

It all started when a young girl named Janiah Lassic had a vision for her creative mom to instead of just decorate for Halloween and give kids tons of candy, to have an actual haunted house for them to roam! And that's when "A Haunting in Hollis" was born. After 3 years of conducting the haunted house, the Founder, Lataya Carter, was told by all of the local attendees that there was a drastic need for consistent community events in Hollis. They expressed to her that the neighborhood started to feel more like a loving community because every year they had something that was safe, fun, family oriented and local to look forward to. From there, (in 2020) she introduced her first Annual Wintry Wonder World event! During the midst of a year-long Pandemic, families with feelings off being trapped inside all year long were finally able to have socially distanced, family fun for only $5. Since this service is dedicated to the underprivileged children in this community, she thought to make the organization a non-profit business and offer this service for free. That's when she hosted her first free annual Easter Egg hunt! Not taking any breaks, she then held her Family Fall Festival. Each child will be able to enjoy a completely unique, memorable experience at no cost! Sehven is a firm believer that a happy childhood will yield a happy and successful adult.
Each year, our "Letters to Santa" program collects letters and Christmas lists from children who insert their letters into the Santa Mailbox. The lists are converted into pdf formatted letters and sent to our loving donors who select a child to sponsor and give gifts to. "Santa" (a member of our staff) replies to every one of these letters to give the children hope and to continue to allow them to BELIEVE!
Our community is full of people who want to help. We work to help the people providing services with the people who need them. Come connect with people in new ways.
